Boiled Chicken and Carrots Mix for Dogs

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (Halal certified)
  • 3 medium-sized carrots, peeled and cut into small chunks
  • 1 cup of water (or low-sodium chicken broth, Halal certified)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional for added healthy fats)
  • A pinch of turmeric (optional, for its anti-inflammatory benefits)
  • 1 cup cooked rice (optional, if you want to add carbohydrates)
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken and Carrots:

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Start by rinsing the chicken breasts under cold water. If you’re using frozen chicken, make sure it’s fully thawed. You can cut the chicken into smaller chunks for quicker cooking.
  2. Prepare the Carrots: Peel the carrots and cut them into small, bite-sized pieces to ensure they cook thoroughly and are easy for your dog to eat.

Cook the Chicken and Carrots:

  1. Boil the Chicken: In a large pot, add the chicken breasts and cover them with water or low-sodium chicken broth. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  2. Cook the Carrots: While the chicken is cooking, place the chopped carrots in another pot of boiling water. Simmer for about 10-12 minutes, or until they are soft and easily pierced with a fork. You want the carrots to be fully cooked, making them easier for your dog to digest.

Mix and Combine:

  1. Shred the Chicken: Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pot and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Shred the chicken using a fork or your hands into small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. Combine the Chicken and Carrots: Add the shredded chicken and cooked carrots into a large mixing bowl. If you want to add some optional rice or turmeric, now is the time to do so. Mix everything together to ensure the ingredients are well distributed.
  3. Add Healthy Fats (Optional): For extra healthy fats, drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil over the mixture. This can help support your dog’s skin and coat health.
  4. Cool and Serve: Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before serving it to your dog. You can serve it fresh, or refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
